This post is about mindfulness and the hat trick reference in the title is due to me practicing mindfulness 3 times in one day. END OF NOTE
WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
Mindfulness is taking the time to pause and be aware of your thoughts in the present moment. This can include things like being aware, being mindful, observing, and focusing on the here and now. In these posts of come and c, I provide examples of how I pause for a brief moment at some random moment to stop and smell the roses kind of thing. This is in the hope of helping encourage you to pause even if only 30 seconds at some point in your day to be aware of the little things in your life.
On our RazzWorks site, there are lots of articles to help give pointers on how to strive for success and chase your dreams. However, at the same time it is also vital to make sure you enjoy the moments of today as well. Another word is to not get so caught up striving for greatness that you forget to live life itself. As with any journey, it’s important to pause, rest, and rejuvinate along the way to your desired end destination.
In this post I’m going to share with you a day where I got to pause 3 times in one day to enjoy, appreciate, and be grateful. Not saying it was a non-stress day or anything. There were times I felt rushed, tired, busy and so on. However, now looking back on the day I don’t really notice the normal stuff, however, I do clearly recall the moments where I did pause for a couple of minutes and took a couple of quick pictures of the moment.
LUCKED OUT WITH A GOOD MORNING START

On this day Roze and I were going to head out of town to go visit family. While I was packing the car with things we were going to bring with us, I noticed the sky was beginning to lighten up. I noticed it was kind of pinkish.
Within the last couple of months, I made it a habit to carry an old cell phone in my coat pocket for occasions like this. FYI I don’t own an active cell phone, I stopped using them back in ’95. The one I carry in my coat is my wife’s old phone before she upgraded hers. The great thing about the cell phones of today is that they have a built-in camera.
So I used Roze’s old cell that I was keeping in my pocket to take a quick picture while I was taking a moment to enjoy the view. It is nice to pause while you are busy getting ready for the day to be able to relax for even a brief moment to observe the cool way the sky looks. So if some morning while you are busy getting ready to start your day, you happen to notice something that catches your eye take a moment and enjoy it even if all you can spare is 30 seconds. Trust me it is worth it.
A WONDERFUL TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY



So now we are at the location which takes about 2-3 hours to get to. Our son lets me know he cooked a turkey. Hoping it will turn out because he has never cooked one before. The reason he cooked a turkey is because his fiancée had already started cooking early. She was preparing some Filipino dishes however forgot that I was allergic to onions and every dish she made had onions in it.
I thought that was very nice of him to do. To go out of his way to prepare turkey, potatoes and carrots just for me. Everything tasted delicious and turned out perfectly fine. I was very grateful that he was kind enough to do all that. Lucky for me if I did eat the onions they would not kill me. However they do cause super major stomach pains that last for hours. And I’m not kidding when I say super major.
Now to be honest I’m not sure if being grateful for someone going out of there way to make you something to eat is considered the proper meaning of mindfulness or not. However, since I know how painful onions can be for me, I am therefore, very grateful. For me at least it counts. And if nothing else it is still an example of being grateful which is part of the meaning of mindfulness.
A GREAT EVENING TO END A GREAT DAY

It was time to head home. Two to three-hour drive back. Great visit, and wonderful food. Not sure if it was all the driving, socializing, or the turkey. Maybe a combination of it all, the main thing was I was beginning to feel drowsy. The day was coming to an end. The sky working its way to night mode. As we drove making our way to the main highway by travelling the back roads. We (Roze & I) were driving by a river when I spotted the sun going down in the rear-view mirror.
It looked so nice, I decided to pull over to stretch my legs and enjoy the view. I pulled that old phone out of my pocket and took a picture. It only took us 2 maybe 5 minutes at most. A beautiful orange glow reflected off the water. The sky was full of clouds but it looked like someone went and dragged them then blurred them. It was neat.
So back in the car and back on the road. We looked back and the whole scene was gone, the sun already set. In less than a minute or two at most, it was no longer there, the sunlight was gone, just a grey sky remained. Grey sky and no more reflection in the water. The awesome crazy part was that I took a moment to observe and be aware of nature and watch the sun go down. I was no longer tired. All the way home I felt relaxed and wide awake. That blew my mind. The fact that pulling over and taking 5 minutes to be mindful had changed me physically (not tired anymore) and mentally (relaxed and alert) just like that.

P.S. I checked and yes it’s called a hat trick in hockey when someone scores a goal 3 times in the same game. Oh cool, I think I will change my title. Oh dear that sounds like a literary paradox. Going back to the beginning to make a change. I wonder if people who write books run into this. They write chapter 8 and realize they have to go back and add something to chapter 2 so it makes sense in Chapter 8?
P.S.2 FYI P S stands for post script not play station. I just realized that putting hat trick in the title might be a little click baitish. Don’t worry I will put a note just in case they didn’t read the excerpt.
P.S.3 OK note added. Also I will try and be a little more MINDFUL of my titles not being click baitish in the future. He-he see what I did there. Using the word mindful. OK, end of joke, laugh here.
