Over the last few years, I have developed a good morning routine that works for me. Last year we did cover the subject of morning routines, habits, schedules, and ritual topics already. However, it does not mean everyone has read them. Also, even if you have read the older posts then you can look at this as a reminder to either try again or see if there are any areas you can improve upon.
I believe this is a subject that should be brought up every now and then because our lives are always changing and sometimes with routines and regular habits, it’s a good idea to see if they can be improved upon or switched up a little. Having a good morning routine can really help set up your day to be the best it can be. Here we are going over some basic routines you can do in the morning to make sure you are starting your day on the right foot.

9 WAYS TO GET YOUR DAY OFF TO A GREAT START
GET OUT OF BED EARLIER
One of the key things to getting your day started off right is to get up a little bit earlier. Now there are tons of articles I’ve come across that speak about the 5 am club. As for me, I get up anywhere between 3 am and 6 am on average.
Yes getting up super early is great. However, I’m not suggesting you need to make yourself join the club or anything. Just start small like 15 or 20 minutes earlier. This will allow you some free extra minutes to try out one of the other suggestions in this post. Even if all you do is get up just a few minutes earlier, you won’t be rushed and that will relieve some of the stress from rushing to get ready each morning.
DECIDE WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU
This is one of my favourites that I like to do every day. That is to each day take a couple of minutes to think about what you want to accomplish. Think about what is important to you. Pick one or two simple tasks that will help to get it done. Then you go and do them as soon as possible. By choosing each day at least one thing that is important that you want to do it allows you to control the direction your day is going to go.
MOTIVATION, INSPIRATION, EDUCATION, AUDIO
An awesome and simple way to make a good morning routine even better is by including some type of inspirational or motivational audio/video speech playing in the background while you have your breakfast or while you drink your coffee/shake/juice.
It’s as easy as setting up a podcast list, or audio content the night before. When you wake up click play and there you go. It’s great for lifting your spirits in the morning or as a way to passively learn something new.
GRAB SOME ME TIME
Here is one thing you might find difficult at first, however with practice, you will be grateful for it. Giving yourself a little bit of me time. You can use these few minutes for whatever you want, or simply sit and do nothing.
The hard part is not turning on your phone or computer to check for messages and notifications. Devote the first few minutes of your morning to yourself before you get influenced by the outside world via your devices.
EAT FOR ENERGY
Make sure each morning to fuel your body with something healthy. Try not to consume too many carbs, especially sugary ones. It might give you quick energy however it also fades away fast. Try fruit, juice, energy shakes, oatmeal, or eggs.
You want to have something that will help you maintain your energy and keep you going until lunchtime. Making sure to eat something healthy in the morning will also help you mentally to be more alert.
TAKE TIME TO BE ACTIVE
If you are not used to being physical in the morning, try some easy basic things like stretching, or going for a short walk. Find something that will help you to physically start moving around. It will help you to awaken mentally as well as loosen up your muscles. Also, it helps boost your mood because you know you did something to get your day off to a great start.
COUPLE MINUTES OF MINDFULNESS
When you get up a little earlier in the morning you will be able to spend a few minutes relaxing. A simple activity you can spend 5 minutes or so at would be mindfulness or being mindful. It will help you to get to know yourself a little better as well, it will improve your concentration skills. Try 2 minutes at first, sit, and let your thoughts flow without judging them. Just observe how and what you think.
CLEAR THE COBWEBS
A quieter approach to improving yourself as well as your morning is to sit and work on mind puzzles such as Sudoku, word puzzles, and crosswords. There are all kinds of mind puzzle books out there, pick one up, sit enjoy your breakfast, and sharpen your mind at the same time.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS FOR YOUR DAY
Each day you get up, prepare yourself for success. Whatever it is you do, get dressed to motivate yourself to go for it. If you are a writer, put on something casual but nice looking, yet comfortable. If you’re into working out, then put on your workout clothing. If you run a business, then dress sharp. You get the idea.
Also take an extra few minutes to groom yourself, if you work from home, don’t use the excuse that no one will see you. The point is to prepare yourself mentally for being able to do your best. Getting yourself dressed up for it can have a great impact on how you start your day. Look good, feel good mindset is what you’re going for. After all this article is all about setting a good morning routine for yourself. So how you look and feel counts.

There you go, some ideas to help you to have a good morning routine so you can get your day started off in a positive way. As I mentioned in the beginning, we posted a couple of similar articles on this subject last year. I’m curious to hear your opinion on something. In the future say sometime next year, if it pops into my head to suggest this idea again. Should I rebuild an old article like this one, or should I go ahead and just write the new article?
