Are you living your best life? Do you have healthy habits that support a healthy lifestyle? Many of us do but what if you could make your life even better. Wouldn’t you want to do that? I know I would. So I’m taking my own advice and working on these healthy lifestyle tips myself. Here they are if you’d care to check them out.
Shift your mindset
Too often we fall into the negativity trap. We feel like we’ll never get ahead, we’ll never have enough money, we’ll never lose the weight, etc. While, in all honesty, the time we spend mulling over these negative thoughts could be put to better use by doing things that will move us toward the goals we seek.
One small shift from “I’ll never ——-” to “How can I ——” is all it takes. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s not that simple but what if it was. It’s just a couple of words. Give it a try. It can’t hurt. It opens your mind up, doesn’t it? Makes you start problem-solving and trying to come up with ideas. Keep doing it and soon you’ll be thinking more positively all the time. It might not be that simple but it’s not that difficult either.

Set Goals
Setting goals is what moves us forward in life. Whether you realize it or not you’ve been doing it since you were a child. How many of us couldn’t wait to drive a car, graduate from highschool, go to college or university, get married, etc. These are all goals we wanted to achieve.
Now is not the time to stop unless you already have the life of your dreams. Keep setting goals for all the things you want to do or accomplish in life. Call it a bucket list if you want. And don’t just set the goals but work at them. Make them happen.
Be More Organized
There are a lot of areas in our lives where we could be more organized. Our homes, our schedules, our work, there are many opportunities for improvement even if you already consider yourself pretty well organized.
Being organized makes life easier in many ways. It frees up time that could be used for other things, increases productivity, and even reduces stress. You know what I mean if you’ve ever lost your keys and frantically searched the house for them getting more and more stressed the longer you search. Trust me, getting organized will improve your life.

Don’t Waste Your Time
Time is precious. We should make the best use of it that we can. I don’t mean being busy all the time either. Sometimes the best use of your time is resting or doing nothing. Make sure you are being honest with yourself and not just looking for an excuse to be lazy.
Time management is big so I won’t teach you much in one paragraph. Be conscious of time and never forget that none of us knows how much we have so spend time with the people you love, do the little things that make life worthwhile, and treat every day as a fresh start. Say those words you put off “I love you”, “I forgive you” or “I’m sorry” now while you have the chance.
Eat Healthy
In today’s world, this one is a bit of a no-brainer. We all know the difference between a vegetable and a chocolate bar. More vegetables, less chocolate. There are many ways to eat healthy and many varieties of healthy food so it can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it.
If you don’t like vegetables maybe you just haven’t found the right ones or the right way to prepare them. I used to hate parsnips until I learned a new way to prepare them. They still aren’t my favorite, that would be broccoli, but I like them. Experiment and try something new, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Surround Yourself With People Who Care About You
I can’t stress this one enough! As a person who lives with a chronic illness I see, every day, friends online who are disbelieved, dismissed, and outright called liars just trying to get the support of those who should care for them. It’s terribly sad.
I am blessed with a supportive husband and an extended family that loves me and cares about my well-being. If you don’t have this you need to find it. Of course, you can’t just go out shopping for a new family but you can find and make friends who can be your people. Check out groups, online or local, for people with similar interests, hobbies, illnesses, nationality, whatever. It may take some time but you will click with someone eventually and that’s the beginning. You are worth it and deserve it.
Take Care Of Yourself
Just like you need to surround yourself with people who care about you, you need to care for yourself too. Take care of your health – mental, physical, and spiritual. Know that you matter and you are worthwhile. You wouldn’t want a friend to give up on themselves or neglect their health so don’t do it to yourself either.
Eat well, get regular check-ups, take time for yourself, try some positive affirmations or quiet reflection, etc. Just treat yourself like you would a dear, treasured friend and you can’t go wrong.

That’s the end of my list but it’s not all there is. This is a pretty good start though. Some will be easier to do than others. I know anything to do with taking time for myself is difficult for me. It’s hard to give up the mindset that tells me I have to be busy and productive all the time. But I will be trying and I hope you will try some of these tips too, if you aren’t already doing them all.
