Overcome Summertime Stress with 15min Relaxation Tips

Written by:

Summer is bitter-sweet sometimes. You can unknowingly become stressed out from trying to balance everything you are trying to cram into the season. From dealing with work while trying to plan the perfect vacation, parties, and outdoor activities to hanging out with your friends and keeping up with day-to-day chores like lawn care, gardening, and housework. The amount of energy it requires to keep up with everything can be very stressful. Sometimes you can feel like you’re all over the place, burning the candle at both ends, staying up late hanging with friends, then getting up early to prepare for the events of the day.

To help keep yourself from getting over-stressed and dealing with anxiety you need to make sure each day to take some time out for yourself. When you do this you will greatly reduce the odds of summertime stress taking over your fun. After all who doesn’t want to enjoy summer to its fullest while they can.

So the first thing you want to do is keep a notebook or use a note app on your phone. Jot down the things you will be doing and make sure you buffer time between events for some me-time.

Everything is fine when there's sunshine

An important weapon against summertime stress is each day during your me-time remind yourself that it’s normal for days in the summer to become busy and fun. This helps to remind yourself that summertime is a fun season.

So what are you going to do with these moments? Well, there are all kinds of things. Remember the key is doing something that relaxes you. Here are a few ideas to help get you started with reducing summertime stress this year. You may want to write some of them in your notebook.

Give yourself a massage. Rub your neck, arms, and temples, and ease the tension away. If there is someone handy ask if they mind giving you a massage. Sit back and enjoy it.

Work on a hobby or task that does not require much thinking. Pot a plant, write a poem, journal, color a picture, paint, whatever you find relaxing and enjoyable. Summertime stress won’t even have a chance if you’re doing something both enjoyable and relaxing.

The beach is calling

Go for a short walk, or go for a run if that’s more your thing. If you’re near a beach, go picking pebbles, sea glass, and/or seashells. Stroll through the woods, fields, or flower gardens. Do something that allows you to simply see and enjoy the present moment.

Do something that idly holds your attention. It could be listening to your favorite music artist or reading a novel. For some, it’s doing some simple and relaxing stretches.

Don’t feel like doing anything really? That’s fine. Use the time to lay on the grass or any comfy area and stare at the clouds or stars. Float in the water just staring at the sky or lay in a tub filled with bubbles or Epsom salts with your eyes closed.

Fluffy white clouds hold a world of possibilities

The main thing is to make sure you carve out short blocks of time to rest your body and mind. Doing this for just a few moments a day can really help keep summertime stress at bay.

If you can think of any other ideas, mention them please in the comments below. You never know, your idea could very well make someone else’s day.

There can be so many things you want to do when the weather is nicer, but not enough time always to fit it in. Me and my partner are going to write a bucket list of things we would like do this Summer, so we can plan ahead.
These are some great suggestions to help relieve stress, I love a nice soak in a bath, which always helps my joints too and I always massage oils and lotions after which always makes me feel much more relaxed. Thank you for sharing your suggestions.
