How to be happy
How to build, cultivate, increase, or nurture true inner joy and happiness within yourself. Yes that’s right it is something you can build. You don’t have to wait for someone else to provide it for you. How it is possible to get this inner joy is simple. You do it by Giving. The act of giving increases inner happiness.
Your world
When you implement the act of giving. You are going to change both yourself and the world around you. By kindness you will not only make your community and society better. You will be increasing the quality of life for the person you give to as well as yourself. The practice of one kind act repeated on your day to day journey will become a natural habit. This habit then starts making you more positive and that leads to being able to enjoy life and the little things more. Hence true inner joy and happiness.

Brighten someone’s day
Everyone has something they can offer. It’s just a matter of practicing it. You can, but really don’t have to, go out of your way to do it either. Also you truly have no idea what effect it will have on others. Sometimes it can have a very dramatic effect. It can make someone’s day. It can create a sense of self worth in a person. It could even change their life for the better.
You have it to give
Perhaps you might be thinking you have nothing to offer. As I mentioned already above. We all have something to contribute. It could be a little thing like commenting honestly about something you like. Their hat, hair, something they made, how they handled a situation. Perhaps a word of encouragement to someone who looks or sounds like they could use it. For some it’s donating food, clothing, money, and so on. Other times it is giving an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on. Maybe a simple drive somewhere. Take their pet for a walk. Some people just want company so they don’t feel so alone. You might have extra stuff in your house collecting dust that someone else would love to receive. Things like old magazines, music, blankets or clothing.

Random acts of kindness
When you take the time to give of yourself so as to improve the life of someone else you will gain the benefit of true inner happiness. You will find yourself enjoying life more because giving increases your inner happiness. Appreciating what you do have and it will, over time, foster a feeling of self worth as in you do have something to offer to the world even if it is just one kind action on a daily bases. That’s because everything we do affects ourselves whether we realize or not. It’s impossible not to grow as a person when you show compassion and genuine acts of kindness towards others.
Joy and happiness
So if you want true happiness in your life, then practice giving in what ever way you can. Anything you can do to help or encourage someone else, go for it. In the long run you will benefit from it just as much as they will. Most of this practice doesn’t even cost you anything other than going out of your way to care about others.
