November calendar month is most known for…

Written by:

Welcome to RazzWorks.com where we will be covering information about the November calendar in this article. I am Razz and I just want to give you a heads-up. My intentions for this post along with posts on the other 11 months will be an ongoing project. This means I intend to update each post with additional information over time. So please feel free to leave any suggestions or ideas you have in the comment section when you are done reading. Enjoy.

WHAT IS THE MONTH KNOWN FOR?

The November calendar is the eleventh month of the year and has 30 days in the month.

November 11th is celebrated by many around the world. There are a few different names used for this day. Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, or Armistice Day, depending on where you live in the world. The reason why it’s important is because in 1918 during the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month was the signing of the armistice between the Allied Powers and Germany in a place called Compiegne, France. This meant the end of World War 1. This war went on for more than 4 years and there was more than 20 million people had lost their lives due to this war. So in honor of those who fought and died because of the war. Many show their respect with one minute of silence on November 11th at 11 am.

Many men consider the November calendar as the month of Movember which is a combination of the word moustache with November. It gives men a good reason for growing their facial hair. While for some it might be just because the colder winter weather in the Northern Hemisphere is now approaching. However Movember is also about men promoting health and wellness concerns such as but not limited too. Suicide prevention, Testicular cancer, suicide prevention, mental/physical/emotional health and men’s overall well-ness. If you haven’t heard of Movember you might recognize it by one of it’s other names. National Beard Month or No-Shave November.

HOW THE MONTH GOT IT’S NAME

The November calendar name comes from the Latin word novem which means nine. Today we have a twelve-month calendar known as the Gregorian calendar. However, the older calendar called the Julian calendar, named after Julius Caesar, November was the 9th month.

INTERNATIONAL GEM FOR THE MONTH

During the year most calendar months have a particular gemstone or birthstone that has been consistent over the years within two common categories. One category is referred to as traditional and another one as modern. However, over many years other lists of stones have developed for various reasons. For example, if you were to go with the bible and read about breastplate gems that represent each month. There are actually two different breastplates. Another example of a list that varies is a jewelers list. Not all jewelers use the same list so some stones can vary for a particular month. With this series of articles, I am attempting to present information that is common around the world. As I mentioned earlier I intend to update information over time. The gemstones and birthstone list is one of those areas that I will be updating in the future. For now, I will be presenting the international gemstone stone list this year.

The November calendar international Birth Gemstone for the month is the golden topaz. The topaz gem can come in different colors however the golden topaz is for the month of November.

In Canada, November 11 is known as Remembrance Day and is not only a National Federal Holiday, but also a very big deal in terms of national, provincial, and local memorial services. The famous poem, “In Flanders’ Fields” was written during WW1 by John McCrea, a Canadian physician and Lieutenant. We memorized the poem in elementary school and it’s read at every Remembrance Day service across the country.

Hi Joanne! There’s always a little tidbit of information that comes as something new. I didn’t know how it got its name either. Have a great day!

I am an avid history buff and I would suggest your post key events happening in each month like you’d with World War I more frequently here. Maybe I can learn more about Canada that way.
