July calendar month is most known for…

Written by:

Welcome to RazzWorks.com where we will be covering information about the July calendar in this article. I am Razz and I just want to give you a heads-up. My intentions for this post along with posts on the other 11 months will be an ongoing project. This means I intend to update each post with additional information over time. So please feel free to leave any suggestions or ideas you have in the comment section when you are done reading. Enjoy.

July

WHAT IS THE MONTH KNOWN FOR?

The July calendar is the seventh month of the year. It has 31 days. Lots of daylight with warm summer weather on the Northern side of the world and longer nights and cold winter days on the Southern side of the Hemisphere.

July is also known to be Disability Pride Month, which is celebrated around the world. Promoting disability rights awareness

There are some very festive celebrations in various countries during the July calendar as well. Here are just a few for example. Canada Day on the 1st celebrates when the provinces came together and officially became the country of Canada. Here is a fun fact. There was a contest where children in school drew pictures of what the Canadian flag should look like. The design that won is the design that is used today, the only thing different is that the original was blue, not red.

In the United States, July 4th is celebrated as Independence Day, which started in 1776 when they separated from Britain. In 1964 Malawi separated from Britain and celebrated Independence Day on the 7th of July.

South Korea became official on July 17, 1948, and celebrates what they call Korean Constitution Day.

HOW THE MONTH GOT IT’S NAME

Before the Gregorian calendar that we currently use today, there was the Julian calendar. With help from Sosigenes, Julius Caesar created what was called the Julian calendar. In honor of Julius Caesar, the July calendar month was named after him.

INTERNATIONAL GEM FOR THE MONTH

During the year most calendar months have a particular gemstone or birthstone that has been consistent over the years within two common categories. One category is referred to as traditional and another one as modern. However, over many years other lists of stones have developed for various reasons. For example, if you were to go with the bible and read about breastplate gems that represent each month. There are actually two different breastplates. Another example of a list that varies is a jewelers list. Not all jewelers use the same list so some stones can vary for a particular month. With this series of articles, I am attempting to present information that is common around the world. As I mentioned earlier I intend to update information over time. The gemstones and birthstone list is one of those areas that I will be updating in the future. For now, I will be presenting the international gemstone stone list this year.

The July calendar international Birth Gemstone for the month is the red ruby.

Glad to hear you liked the post. And happy to hear you enjoy the word search as well. It takes me awhile and some digital colouring to get my brain going in the morning.

It’s my sister’s birthday this month. I might give her a ruby, I never knew that was July’s birthstone!

I didn’t know about the disability pride month thing, but did know that Canada Day was the first and that the fourth is US Independence Day but didn’t know about South Korea. I also knew about how the month got its name.

Also in my family there are 5 birthdays in July

That’s alot of birthdays in one month. Only 2 in my family. So glad to hear you learned a couple of things about July. I hadn’t heard about the Disability Pride either until I was editing the post for Razz. I have Fibromyalgia as well as osteoarthritis so I appreciate that there is a month for Disability.

You’re welcome Linda! I also have invisible disabilities. I’ve had Fibromyalgia since my mid 20’s and osteoarthritis started around age 30. I have been unable to work since 2010 when I injured my back. So I get it and also appreciate the month dedicated to us and all others with any kinds of disabilities. Have a great day!

Ugh, it’s so hard. I ‘medically retired’ a couple of years ago, and I can’t see myself being able to go back… but what you do on your blog is so purposeful, so take strength from that! xx
