We recently noticed that our comment section indicates we have 1k comments. Mind you we (Roze and I) also noticed in a different section it says we have a little over 700 comments. Not sure what the different numbers mean. However, if the comment section means we have a total of 1000 including both comments received and replies to the comments then our replies would account for about half that number. Therefore, I feel it is safe to guess it means we received close to or over 500 comments from other people. I think that is awesome. So thank you to everyone who has visited, read, and left us a comment here at RazzWorks.
Sometimes while blog hopping (Blog Hopping – travelling around to different websites looking for interesting articles to read), we notice that some people don’t get comments. Now, there can be many reasons why people don’t leave comments. Here are some basic things to check into that might be causing comments to not show up under your post.
1 The comment section is permanently closed.
2 The comment section closes after a certain # of days.
3 There are comments however they are not visible yet.
Now, just in case maybe you’re someone who would like to get comments however you don’t seem to be getting any do a quick search on how to check your commenting settings for your theme and/or host. ( Host – refers to the company that your site is associated with. Example: WordPress, Medium, Blogspot, etc…) ( Theme – A premade format or layout of your website’s look which usually has settings for you to be able to make changes.) And make sure you have comments set to be allowed or turned on.
If it turns out that, yes, comments are turned on, and not set to close after a certain amount of time. Then check your comment section to see if any comments might be pending. For example, in WordPress, it is possible to set comments to hold any first-timer comments for moderation. What that means is the first time a person leaves a comment it automatically goes to pending until the owner of the site reads and approves it.
One last thing to check. Maybe you are getting comments however the comments are going to spam. Check the spam section. It’s not uncommon for a perfectly fine comment to end up in spam. Just go into the spam folder and click approve on any legitimate comments in there.
I share this information with you only because here at RazzWorks we had the same problem in the first year. And the way I look at it. is, if I didn’t know, then perhaps there are others out there that might not realize it either.
