Easy ways to arm yourself against everyday stress

DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY EVERY DAY
Each day make sure you take the time to involve yourself in something you personally enjoy doing. It could be a hobby, a nature walk, or collecting something. It doesn’t matter what the activity is as long as it is your choice and you enjoy it.

WORK ON POSITIVE THINKING
Spend time focusing on positivity. You can do things like positive affirmations to help you focus on areas you want to improve. You can also pay some attention to your inner self-talk and find areas where you can improve your self-image by reducing any negative thought patterns.

FOCUS ON YOUR BREATHING
Taking the time to just slow down and breathe, smell the air, relax, and do nothing. Focusing on your breathing gives you a chance to practice slowing your mind down so it doesn’t spin out of control with multiple thoughts. This can be especially helpful at night when trying to go to sleep. I know that’s when those racing thoughts always catch up to me.

WRITE THINGS DOWN
Don’t try and remember every little thing in life. Keep a notebook handy. Use it to jot down anything you want to remember – important or not. Whether it’s an appointment, some little task you want to do later, or an important date to remember. Clear your mind by jotting things down and you’ll instantly reduce your stress level.

DO SOME SIMPLE STRETCHES
Stretching is a great way to loosen your muscles and help you to relax physically. It only takes a few minutes and relieves any tension that might be building up.

TAKE A MOMENT TO BE MINDFUL
Taking a few seconds to observe how you are feeling, what you are thinking, or what is going on is very helpful. The key to mindfulness is to observe without judgment. Just simply pause for about 30-90 seconds.

This might sound strange, but one thing that I have done in times of stress is to listen to some down-right raunchy hard-@ss heavy metal! Lol!

Yes, Deb I can see how this could help with stress. Particularly if you really like this type of music. I’m more of a classic 80’s rock and pop listener.
Sorry, this comment came so late. Your comment ended up in my spam folder lol. Maybe the reference to the type of music you like 😉

No worries! I love 80s rock too! My taste in music goes from some 60s to 90s, some beyond the 90s but it’s pretty thin. Lol. But I also love metal and classical and mix the 2 and it’s awesome!! I guess all music helps with stress but when I’m really angry and stressed, metal does it for me. 😉
