It does not matter whether you’re working on self-improvement, striving for greatness, or working to change a habit, setbacks happen. Sometimes what you are doing just does not work at all. Don’t give up completely but rather take some time to think to yourself. Take some time to honestly consider ‘Do I need to stop and try something completely different?’. Do I need to change my approach, method, or even how I think? Why is this not working for me? Setbacks happen all the time, sometimes you can hit a wall and what or how you’re doing something becomes a complete failure. It happens to everyone.

Major setbacks can make you feel very uncomfortable because it shouts at you that what or how you’re doing something is wrong and you need to seriously consider doing something different to get it right. This brick wall toward success you’re experiencing can make you feel like a complete failure. At this point, you have forgotten one true fact. Nobody is perfect, that includes you and me. Nobody can do everything to perfection. Setbacks and sometimes even failure is how we learn and grow.
The good thing about running into major setbacks is that you can learn things, sometimes even stuff about yourself. Also, these types of situations can challenge you to be resourceful, think outside the box, and challenge you to become smarter. It also lets you know that this might not be for you and therefore try again by trying something completely different.
If you run into a problem, setbacks, or worse the whole thing fails and brings you all the way to the beginning. Remember that no great invention or creation has ever been done without problems occurring. Take the time to honestly determine why it did not work out. Most of all do not allow this to crush your dreams and goals. It is not the end of the world if you did not succeed at something. Rather it is a chance for you to consider new strategies, ideas, methods, or even new ways of thinking. It does not matter if it’s a business, hobby, relationship, new routine, habit, or even some sort of self-improvement. Have the courage to clear your thoughts of negative thinking, and prepare yourself to try again from a different direction. If need be, rebuild from the ground up and start again with new thinking and determination.

Only you can decide with anything you choose whether you ultimately fail or succeed. When setbacks or obstacle shows up, then most certainly take the time and energy to make changes so you can work your way around them. You might even have to slow things down, but that is ok, take tiny steps if you have to. 1% forward is still moving forward. Break everything down into smaller steps and goals so it will be less overwhelming. Work on yourself so you can maintain the ability to continue to think positively through the journey. Yes, I said journey. Going after any target goal should be treated as a journey in life and not merely a means to an end. The thing about journeys in life, regardless of what path you start on, you generally run into bumps, potholes, setbacks, or even obstacles. That is because life is an ever-evolving journey. The bottom line is don’t give up, restart if necessary, try a different angle, and just keep moving forward even if it’s only one percent at a time. Best of luck to you and may your ever-evolving journey be fruitful.
