This is one of my all-time favourite quotes and one of the first to make it into my collection. Though the words I used above are not the exact quote from Henry David Thoreau they are the words that were on the poster in my classroom back in the 8th grade and they made an impression on me. This is what it says to me:
Dream big! There’s nothing wrong with dreaming just don’t let that be the end of it. Make those dreams come true. Figure out what you can do, even a very small thing, to move towards that dream today. Put one brick in the foundation.
And you don’t have to limit yourself to one dream. Notice the quote says castles – plural. Dream lots of dreams. You don’t have to lay all the foundations at once. Maybe you choose to work on the highest priority one first or work on two at a time. It’s up to you and what you can handle. Just remember, there’s no rush. One brick at a time that foundation will come together. Have patience and persevere. And go after those dreams!
What does this quote say to you? Is it anywhere close to what I got from it? I’d love to hear any different views on it. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
