What if you could have super focus and be in the zone whenever you want to, or at least increase the chances of it happening on a more regular, predictable basis. Well, you can.
Isn’t it great when you are working on something and all concept of time is gone? You’re so in the zone that you’re not even aware of what is going on around you. You have this intense super focus on whatever it is you’re doing.
To help yourself to get in the zone or be able to have super focus, you need to train your mind to know when you want to concentrate. So the first thing you need to do is figure out what your normal routine is.
Start by keeping a record of your day. When do you get up, when do you head out the door? Around what time do you show up at work or school? Do you eat breakfast every morning? If you work from home, when do you start, and how do you start? What are your routines while working? Write as much detailed information as you can. If at some point you notice you were in the zone write it down.
After a few weeks, you can look back and check to see when and how often you got to be in the zone. Also, you will be able to see if there might be a pattern you can work with.

Now once you have a good outline of your routines you can see if there is something to replicate or areas you can improve on. Whether you’re an artist or a CEO it does not matter. Being in the zone still amounts to having super focus on what you are doing.
Therefore you may want to consider setting a particular routine or time so you can have that super focus when you most want it. This way you’re making the task a priority. This will tell your brain at this time, I need to have super focus on the task in front of me. Repeating the pattern every day will help your mind to get into the zone because it is aware that this task is the only thing I need to think about.
If you’re a writer, painter, or designer, the creativity part of your brain will know it can take over and allow information and ideas to just flow out on its own. If you’re someone who needs to concentrate on details, like numbers, measurements, and accuracy, then the logic part of the brain will know it’s now time to become super focused and provide you as quickly as possible with the information you require.

Another thing to do is make the routine or time on the clock sacred. If you’re going to be able to regularly get in the zone your mind and body need to know this is your work time, nothing else matters at this moment. So basically you need to be in the now. Only what you are doing matters. You can not be doing other activities that have nothing to do with what you want to accomplish and be in the zone at the same time. Don’t waste your time and energy juggling multiple things that have nothing to do with each other.
Notice I said things that have nothing to do with each other. So that means if all the items are directly related then it’s an exception to the rule. An example would be a cook – measuring, stirring, main course, second course, dessert, pan-fry, and oven-bake are all related to cooking. Of course, you will have to decide for yourself what is related to what you are doing and what is not.


Also, you need to make sure you get rid of any and all distractions. Distractions will keep you from being able to get in the zone while you’re working or concentrating. So turn off your phone, set a specific time for checking and responding to emails, disable notifications, and check voice mail before and/or after your allotted time for the task you want to have super focus on.
Another very important point is being organized. If you’re a painter make sure you have all your colors and brushes ready, and an extra canvas on hand in case you get on a roll. If you work in an office have your desk cleared, your calender out of site, and any other distractions removed.
It takes time to be organized, however being organized also means you know where everything is, so you don’t have to stop and search for things you need. It also means fewer distractions for your mind when it is super focused. You are better able to keep going with it.

So there you have it. How to have super focus when you’re doing something. Nothing too fancy, however at the same time very important so you can let your mind go and do its thing. You will also find you end up getting more done in less time, which is a nice bonus.
So knowing your routine, knowing when and how you do your best work helps when you add in being organized, distractions out of the way, and a set time frame. You will start slipping into the zone more and more often and getting greater results at the same time. How do you get ‘in the zone’?
