Fight Fatigue on Vacation and Win!

Written by:

Have you ever noticed yourself feeling low on energy or tired on your vacation? It sucks feeling worn out when all you want to do is enjoy your break and have some fun.

Sometimes you feel this way because you’re trying to keep up with your family and friends. You feel weak from having a busy life, poor eating habits, or just from trying to keep up with everyone else.

It doesn’t matter if it is a short quick overnight outing, a weekend camping trip, a beach day, or a 2 to 3-week travel vacation. Time spent doing something enjoyable is your vacation from your regular routine. So check out these simple ideas that can help to boost your energy during your break.

Prepare your metabolism by eating healthy before you go on your vacation. If you are going to take a break somewhere warm your body will be able to adapt easier if you are eating healthy. So most definitely do not attempt some quick diet because you want to fit into a nice outfit or swimwear on your vacation. This will only stress your body out.

Also a week or two before going, try taking some multivitamins, and/or B12. It will help your digestion if there is going to be a big climate change. Not only that it will help keep up your energy. Also when we go and have some fun we don’t always eat right. The multivitamins will help. Perhaps for the same reason, you should pack some antacids as well.

If you start to feel tired on your vacation, you could be dehydrated so be sure to drink lots of water. Keep a water bottle with you. Stay hydrated. Especially if you are spending time in hot weather. If you don’t you are likely to start feeling sluggish and weak. That’s no fun so bring water with you so it’s always on hand.

While on your vacation be sure to eat some vegetables like carrots, celery, and cucumbers. This will make sure your kidneys and liver keep working properly so you can feel top-notch.

If you are doing a getaway for a weekend or more be sure you get enough sleep. Take a nap in the daytime to give yourself a little energy boost. Try not to nap any longer than 20 min. at a time though. A lot of times on vacation we burn the candle at both ends. We stay up late having a good time and also wake up early excited for the new day. So take a nap when you can to fill in the gap.

While on vacation a key way to keep your energy levels up is to make sure you’re not stressing over things back home that you have no control over. Keep a notebook and whatever is bothering you make a note, ‘when I get back I need to look into…’, Now you know you won’t forget to deal with it so you can let it go and enjoy the day.

A good way to give yourself a bit of an energy boost and stop worrying is when you wake up remind yourself ‘Yeah I’m on vacation. awesome! Can’t wait to see what fun I’m going to have today!’. Basically, make sure to start off in a positive mood before you step out that door.

After you get up, and even throughout the day, splash some cold water on your face. A lot of times it will give you a quick positive rush of energy. It helps to make you feel more alive.

So whether it’s a day trip, weekend getaway, or a couple weeks of vacation. Keep these tips in mind so you can keep your energy levels up and get the most out of your time. Have fun and tells us if we missed or didn’t think of something that helped you to avoid getting tired on your vacation, getaway, or holiday?
