We can’t always be happy. Things happen in life that cause feelings of sadness, fear, nervousness and anxiety. However there are many little things we can do that can help us to feel happier today. It’s not difficult and doesn’t require great knowledge or power. Just some simple actions we can do any time and anywhere. Let’s take a look.
1-Smile
Normally we smile if we’re happy but what if we try it the other way around. Make yourself smile. You might not feel like it but do it anyway. Not just a quick grin. Really smile, and hold it for about 30 seconds. Smiling helps to reduce stress and lowers your heart rate in tense situations. If you are in a stressful situation try smiling. It may even help you to think more clearly and will certainly improve your mood. It can’t hurt to give it a try? Go ahead.

2-Be Grateful
Expressing gratitude just feels good. WHen you get up in the morning, before getting out of bed, think of three things you are grateful for. You could write them in a journal or just think them in your head however keeping a journal has been shown to increase happiness as well so why not combine the two. Beginning your morning with journal writing can be a really nice calm way to wake up your mind and journaling positive things will give you that positive disposition to start your day with.
3-Give a compliment
Saying something nice to someone else will not only make them smile it will put a smile on your face – guaranteed! Tell the checkout clerk you like her hair, tell a coworker she has a nice smile, or compliment your boss on the lovely necklace she’s wearing. It doesn’t matter who just choose someone and find something nice to say. Make you both feel happier today!

4-Exercise
I know many of us avoid this but it is so good for us in so many ways. Beyond keeping our physical body healthy exercise releases chemicals that make us feel happier. As little as 7 minutes a day will do so go for a walk, you’ll be happy you did.
5-Make plans
Whether it’s a birthday party, family dinner or a coffee date with a friend making plans makes us happy. It doesn’t have to be elaborate plans either. Something to look forward to could keep us smiling for days.

6-Try Something New
What is something you have wanted to try but never did? It could be something as simple as a new hairstyle, trying a new hobby, or going horseback riding. Maybe it’s a new restaurant, a new food, a sport you’d like to play or an adventure you’d love to go on. No matter what it is get out there and try it. You’ll be glad you did and your brain will reward you with more of that happy chemical.
7-Get enough sleep
Many of us get by on much less sleep than we need. Being tired makes us more inclined to feel stress and anxiety besides making us grumpy. If you get lots of sleep you’ll be less sensitive to these negative emotions leaving room for happiness.
